A.Tosh & Sons is a century-old legacy of Bulk Tea Manufacturer and Supplier

The journey of A.Tosh started long before its inception back in 1880’s when Ashutosh Ghosh discovered his hidden passion for tea, its origin and varied flavours. He started making money as a civil contractor in a mercantile firm in colonial India. However, he could not resist the call of his true interest and that was here in the field of tea business. He decided to join as a purchasing agent for Harrison & Crossfield, one of the eminent tea houses of contemporary India.
Nearly around 1892, India’s tea culture was highly influenced by British etiquette at that time. Additionally, they took interest in products like premium Indian tea to initiate foreign exportation. Calcutta, being the the contemporary capital of India became the business hub and Ashutosh Ghosh made his place as one of the leading suppliers to mercantile firms. Under the able guidance of Mr. Ashutosh, his son, Prabhash Chnadra Ghosh established A.Tosh & Sons as a bulk tea supplier in 1897.

The history of 123 years of legacy of manufacturing and supplying bulk tea
A.Tosh is currently known for its finest quality bulk tea and one of the noted companies in the tea trade. The history behind this bulk tea manufacturer and trader rooted back in 1897, in the backdrop of colonial Kolkata. Foreign traders used to visit ports of Hooghly and Calcutta which narrates the journey of A.Tosh as a leading tea manufacturer and supplier. Within ten to twelve years after its inception, the business grew and two younger brothers from the family started handling the finances. The success began with the opening of A.Tosh’s first store in Harrison road, Calcutta; currently known as Mahatma Gandhi road. Gradually, several branches of A.Tosh were inaugurated across different locations of Calcutta.
