What I Learned While Visiting the Casino Mosque, Australia
Situated in Australia's outback, Casino Mosque is a large, imposing structure. If you're ever lucky enough to land up in this little town, I suggest you get to know the inhabitants of this unusual building. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the diversity of characters you'll meet . The casino that keeps them in business turns out to be a melting pot of cultures, with some areas located near the mosque being closer to the local Aboriginal culture pumared.
In my opinion, the most impressive building is the Riverbank Café. Built on a huge concrete pad, it's like a living museum in the middle of nowhere. With dramatic bronze sculptures on the walls and a rustic look thanks to outbuildings and carvings, it's an interesting juxtaposition.
Like many outback towns, the water and the desert are often in sync with each other. Here, they intertwine as you approach the Casino Mosque. What I love about this area is the way it looks like one big natural sculpture of the bush and the ocean. There's a great deal of red, gold and green, in this part of the Outback. The water and sand glow in the afternoon sunlight ionoke.
Aside from the beauty of the locals and the abstract nature of the buildings, I really liked how this town looks like a concrete jungle that takes on a life of its own. It reminded me of how some of my favorite video games are designed.
Most of the residents are farmers, with the small number of other residents represented by the town council, major sports codes and the mosque itself. That being said, there is much more focus on the local culture than in most other locations in Australia. While I enjoyed visiting the mosque, I'm not sure I would have understood much of what I was told.
As for the architecture, the Casino Mosque offers a gallery of Australian culture, including paintings and sculptures by Aboriginal artists and designs from major casino casinos. In addition, it houses the largest collection of African and Asian art and architecture.
No doubt there is a lot to do and see in Casino Mosque. Whether you're into the local Aboriginal culture or just love the beautiful surroundings, you'll find something for everyone here. If you're not in the mood for some shopping, you can head to one of the numerous cafes and enjoy a fresh brew or smoothie.
I got to see a lot of interesting things in Casino Mosque. There is so much to do and see that it was impossible to keep my attention elsewhere. From the beautiful buildings to the rock formations and the Islamic building, I was constantly impressed with the eclectic nature of this community.
