Coffee Table Not Centered

I have noticed it and I don't understand it at all. It makes the coffee table functionally useless. If you actually use the room for friends and family, then another side table or C-table has to be brought in to set down your coffee cup/tea cup or drink. Who is going to stand up and walk across to the middle of the room to put down their drink? Unless the idea is to not actually use the room at all. JMO
Edit: I know I am a practical person and to me having a non-functional table as a barrier to seating is not my style at all. But this forum is for people with all kinds of different perspectives:)
